Hillary should get out now!

Hillary Should Get Out Now

Jonathan Alter, was born in Chicago 1957, and graduated from Harvard in 1979. He has been working for Newsweek since 1983, where he now is a columnist and a senior editor. In the 1980’s, for a decade he was a critic on the media, he would hold other news organization accountable for their coverage; he was one of the first to do so. Then in 1991, Newsweek allowed him to have the first political commentary column. He also became well known the night of the 2000 elections. He went onto NBC news to talk about the problem with the “butterfly ballots.” He told reporters that the recount were “more art than science.” That statement made many conservatives angry. His column has been very unpredictable, and he has been a strong critic on President Bush. He wrote a book The Defining Moment, which is about when Franklin Roosevelt was president, and how the U.S. became a dictatorship. His book has received many great reviews.
Mr. Alter has some very good points in his article. I think that he spoke a little too soon though, because if you look at the polls now Obama and Clinton are almost at a dead even race. This has been the most interesting race so far, and tomorrow with Texas and Ohio voting, Mr. Alter maybe wrong.
He says that Hillary has no chance to catch up to Obama, which is looking to be true, but with these two big states voting tomorrow, it may all change. She does have to put her game face on, because Obama is doing much better than her campaign thought that he would. He says that she needs a 20 delegate lead on Obama, or the delegate math just won’t work in her favor. He may or may not be right, we just don’t know. Obama does also need to gain some superdelegates in Denver, but Hillary needs to really step it up.
Obama has more pledge delegates, and the majority of vote, which means that Hillary needs to close the gap which means she needs to dominate in all other states. Like he said that everyone wrote Hillary off when she lost in the caucus in Iowa. Things happen in politics and you have to be careful not to speak up too soon or it will come back and bite you in the butt.
Mr. Alter says that Hillary only has a chance to win, if Obama messes up so badly that he gets disqualified. Obama has been very excellent about making sure he doesn’t mess up. He has messed up a few small times but like Mr. Alter said we are to the point that we like him so much we just blow it off.
Mr. Alter does have so good points, but he may have spoken too soon. We will find out on March 5.
